Yes, although it might be referred to as a 3L80.

THe 700R4 and 350 both have the same bolt pattern, and i think the 400 has the same also not sure though, just a question though, why do you want a 700R4, to tell ya the truth, if you do any pulling THERE NOT WORTH IT, MNorbys went through like 3 of them i think, ive gone through 1

Well because I have an extra 700r4 mostly and I'd like to drive the truck while I take a stab at rebuilding the 400.

If it is 4 wheel drive the t-case adapter won't mate up. If it is 2wheel drive then you might have to get a different drive shaft.

All of this was over a 2.5 year span

Re: which tranny does an 88 1 ton come with?

91 and later 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks have the 4L80E 4 speed auto with OD. Good tranny, basically an electronically shifted TH400 with OD.

TH700R4's can be built up to be a very reliable tranny, you just have to spend the money on beefing EVERYTHING. Also helps if the place that does it can collectively find their butts with both hands.
