Need help with timing!?Anyone have a book?

I've got a 4.3L with a 4barrel carburator in my jeep from a 86 k10.
It could have been a c10..I'm not sure.
Anyways, either a k10 or a c10 with a 4.3L and 4bbl.

I've talked to a few auto stores, asked countless people and keep getting different answers.
I've set it at 8degrees, 6 degrees and 4 degrees which it is currently set at.
It doesn't run that great at 4..
I've also heard to do tdc.

Anyone have the real answer?
The guys at the auto store didn't seem to know and onetime I believe checked the next year available(which is fuel injected) and today the guy didn't see anything and just gave me a number that he thought was correct..and to try it out.

Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!

Joey

I'd just run as much advance as you can get by with. As long as it starts easy and dosnt ping under load. I would have though a 4.3 could take more timing than that.....8-10 sounds about right but thats coming directy from between my 2 cheeks

I think who ever told you TDC is NUTS.
