Tranny ID question.....

What automatic would be behind a 1985-86, Chevy, diesel, 1 1/4 ton, 4x4? Does it use the standard Chevy bolt pattern? What transfer case?

Thanks,

Bryan

Re: Tranny ID question.....

Should be a turbo 400 and an np205.

and whatever tranny it is it will be the standard GM bolt pattern..

If you can crawl under it look for the texas shaped tranny pan, and the 3-bolt cover on the idler shaft on the t-case for the np205.

Re: Tranny ID question.....

From the sounds of it you're talking about a CUCV truck? If so, Then it'll be a TH400. And yes it's a normal Chevy bolt pattern, And drivetrain. 6.2diesel, TH400, NP 205, 14 bolt rear with a detriot, And a Dana 60 front, Oh and 4:56 gears at both ends. Badazz trucks, I'd love to find a compleate one in working order.

Re: Tranny ID question.....

Yep, that's what I'm talking about. Found one buried in weeds and junk on a lot and wanted to know if it was worth digging for. Sounds like it is.

Thanks,

Bryan

Re: Tranny ID question.....

I thought the CUCV's ran an Np208? but i could be wrong. Definately worth digging for, this is what my truck is, I bought it without motor, tranny or tcase. Awesome axles, pull points for clevis, reinforced frame. Take the whole truck!!!

Re: Tranny ID question.....

The Blazer CUCV's did run a NP208. I've never heard of the Pickups running them though. You could look around on this site http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Highway/3969/cucvpage.htm For lots of info on CUCV's if you wanted as well. (Not sure why I diden't remember that site when I first posted though.)
