Re: not so friendly jeep board

Just wagging here (Wild A$$ Guessing) but I think that the front axle on the Wagoneers are D44s. I don't have any idea what the rear would be but the tranny might possibly be a GM tranny, during that time AMC Jeep was pretty much a parts bin junkie, whatever they could get their hands on they used... my 86 Cherokee has the GM "Iron Duke" 2.5l 4banger...

I believe both axles are Dana 44's (front/rear)... However watch out for the quadratrac models (I think) with the differential offset just like the front is... Not sure how else to describe it. I don't recall what case that was now, is either the Q trac or a different case... Anyhow the offset rear diff will be easy to spot...

Re: not so friendly jeep board

yeah..i think the front is a d44..but the rear diff has a cover that is almost perfectly round. the reason im asking is ive found a wagoneer in tact at a local junk yard and im looking to build a cheep rock beater with a welder, and junkyard running gear. stick it on a trailer and beat the hell out of it!!
