Re: Weirdest darn spot to leak! (UPDATE)

What is leaking??? You shouldn't have any sorta fluid leaking out of a u-joint.. you sure it isn't ATF creeping its way down the shaft and dripping off the u-joint?????

And the way I always get my pictures computerized is when I get them developed I get em put on a CD... costs like 10 bucks extra, and if they can do it way the f(0k up in the sticks here I'm sure they can do it wherever you live.

yeah i think its leaking down the spline, and coming out the drive shaft. somewhere, cuz the part of the shaft by the BRAND NEW rear transfercase seal is bone dry

What's it leaking, gear oil (not likely), motor oil, or t case fluid/ tranny fluid? Tranny fluids red ( made me think my truck was bleeding to death when my 700R4 blew its guts out. Maybe its muddy water? Don't laugh, it's happened... to me.... hehehehe (I tasted it )

Re: Weirdest darn spot to leak! (UPDATE)

what i've run into before is, on the front yoke of the rear shaft, there's a small hole approx 1/8 inch in the end of it facing the joint. just fluid seeping past the output shaft splines. what i've done is pull the shaft, grease up the splines and put 'er back in. i have welded the hole up before too. i assume it's just a breather hole for the shaft.
any takers on this???????

Re: Weirdest darn spot to leak! (UPDATE)

It's a breather hole to release the pressure built up as the yoke slides in and out on the splines creating pressure like a piston.
