Rebuilding a TH400

Can a th400 be rebiult with a B&M rebuild kit out of summit after its to the point of barely moving my truck. I was doing a smokeshow and when it shifted to second the tires stopped spining. I got it Backed into my driveway (barely) Then there was quite a bit of smoke from the tranny. Should I save up for a tranny shop rebuild or can I do it myself.

Needs to be taken apart to see if any hard parts have been destroyed. If it is only clutch packs and the metal plates and clutch band then you could do it yourself. Just be sure you do it right. I thought i did mine right and it only lasted 2 months. I reassembled something wrong and it killed it.
