Took it on a trip, almost made it there...

I left El pAso last saturday for Elephant Butte, NM which is about 160-170 miles away. I made it 115 miles and my main pulley fell off the Harmonic Balancer. It flung out from under my truck and bounced around under my friend's truck who was behind me. Everything was closed for the next 40 miles up the road, so the next morning i found a water ski shop that sold me the right bolts. I then found out one hole wsa starting to strip, so out came the JB weld. Viola! It runs about the same as before. Mediocre that is. I also had to remove my front shaft since the CV is shot and the whole thing sits on my exhaust making lots of reattles and vibrations. Guess that is next to fix. Not including removing the JB welded bolt, rethreading the hole and making sure i have the right grade bolts in there.

Sounds like a nice relaxing trip eh!!

Well, I guess the more things that break and are fixed, the less things there are to go wrong...

At least nothing worse happened when the pulley fell off - that coulda been ugly I imagine.

I was glad all of my belts were in good shape. Not a one broke. No holes in any pans, torn lines, dented this, dented that thank goodness.

Yes Sir, we sure are. I am not afraid of road trips with this thing. I made a 400 mile out then 400 mile back trip one day last year. It is just not much fun driving somethig that big with 38" bias ply Swampers for 12 hours. And the mileage sucks as well. I got 7 on the 800 mile trip and I got 8.5 this last trip(had to do 65 to get that, did 85/90 the other one).

Thanks RJ. I am glad to be here to entertain all of you when i get the chance.
