Re: Hey Willys Wanter

Well, first off, mines a 540. And I'm buying the short block kit from Bill Mitchel Racing http://www.theengineshop.com. That kit is just over 4 grand then I have to get heads which are 1800, then tuned port efi which is 2500, and blah blah blah, I'll be able to afford it when I'm 95 when my 40 dollar savings bond my grandma got me pays out. I think the last time I added everything up turn key with all ignition stuff was at 10k. I'm still working on getting my bank to offer engine loans.

Re: Hey Willys Wanter

you sure it wouldnt be cheaper to get ahold of an Allison aircraft engine like the sled pullers often use? i believe they are 1300hp stock and are v12 config. i'm sure it'd be hassle to setup but DAMN think of the power wheelies on demand!

Re: Hey Willys Wanter

Cheaper? Uh no. Those engines usually go for 20 grand easy as surplus. Now a Pratt & Whitney gas turbine or APU with a gear reduction box, hmm, 10,000 horsepower???

Oh, baby:

Re: Hey Willys Wanter

Yeah, my 4th dream vehicle in life that I hope to own before the age of 73, is a 42 foot scarab powered by two Allison helicopter engines running twin surface drive props. It's what they use in the catermerans use that race down the mississippi river. Mmmm, 300mph, mmmmm.

Check out http://www.gas-turbines.com for some cool projects.
