Body lifts

I have a 73 3/4 ton 4x4 chevy and want to put an 87 chhevy body on it. I want to know if body kits the same for these years or what do I have to do to get this to work?

<font color=green>All things being equal they should be essentially the same. By that I mean that both trucks are 4x4, auto, SWB, etc. Swapping a 2wd cab on is a little bit different, manual to auto or vice versa entails a bit more work too, for obvious reasons. Why are you swapping? I've been looking for a decent '73 cab for awhile now, I assume you're swappiong because of rust though, and odds are you aren't in CA.

Re: Body lifts

I put an 85 2wd cab on my 73. The frame dimensions are the same from 73-87 on the 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks. The 1 tons are the same up to 90 or 91. With a 2wd cab you will either have to use a 3" body lift or change out the center hump to clear the transmission and t-case. I got the center hump out of my old cab and transfered it over to the 85. This was kinda a pain in the a$$ and takes some fabrication work.
