<font color=green>I don't know what the axles are in this thing, but if I had to guess I'd say they're 5 ton Rockwells. The ad says it's an original AF aircraft tug.

Geesh, did you see the distance between the top of the engine and the bottom of the hood of that second truck? Thats one heck of a body lift.

Looks like the motor might have been mounted a little lower than usual too..

But still a massive bosy lift.

That aircraft truck would make a great 4x4 towtruck - especially with tandem rockwells in the rear. now wouldn't that be sweet

That second one..
Either someone took a picture with the motor sitting on the ground between the tires or they used a couple hundred bucks worth of hockey pucks to do a body lift.

<font color=green>I think you guys are missing the home made ladder frame and the half assed motor mounts... That's how it was lifted. Look at the perches for the front ends of the front springs. Scary!

<font color=green>I can't beleive that nobody has commented on the tug! Am I the only one that finds a SWB Chevy with 5 ton planetary type axles that was built by the military cool?! The tires on the thing must be 38" right now, you could hog out the fenders, add a few inches of lift and run 52" tractor tires - easy! I think it's a bargain for the price, but still too rich for my poor [censored]...

Re: O/T Great Googley-Moogley! Truck on ebay...

I think its sweet. I wonder if he was talking about planetary axles, or a underdrive unit.. With a T400 I imagine that thing might need a high - low range without the low gears of a manual tranny..

although those 5-tons are probably geared to [censored] by themselves..

What sort of t-case do you think that thing would have?? Would something like that be full-time?
