4\" vs 6\" lift for 71 Chevy

In the process of putting a Dana 60 and 14 bolt w/4.56 under my 71 Chevy LB. I run a slighty modified 350 and 700R4. I want to lift it, but not sure of either 4" or 6". I have the gears to support a 35" tire, but not sure I want to go through possible problems of running a 6" lift. Anybody got opinions, info, etc. on my dilema? I use the truck for towing, hauling, and moderate off-roading. Not concerned about gas mileage (can't get any worse than current!) I know with 6" I'll have to do new brake lines, steering correction, etc., so that's not a concern. I plan on running ORD reverse shackle for 4" in rear with blocks if I go 6". Thanks

If you have any doughts dont do it. Its now worth trouble down the road. Have you considered a body lift? They leave the suspention/driveline stock. So side effects are minimul.

Go big or stay home. I run a 6" skyj. on my '71 SHWb chevy with 35" tires & 4.56 gears with no problems. But i had to get the drive s. lengthen & balance. Also i had to throw on a sway bar up frt. from a later chevy, that help out a lot with the bumpsteer.

I don't want to put on body lift because I haul a lot of weight in the bed sometimes and I don't want problems associated with the weight pushing the bed over the pucks.

did you have to lenghten the rear drive shaft? I'll get a new one for the front since I haven't put one on since the 700R4 swap. Plus, the stock one was really sloppy. Does the awy bar limit your suspension travel when off-roading?
