tranny: need help

I have an 87 burban with a 350 crate motor don't know what trans it has but no overdrive supposally has ashift kit, it does shift pretty hard but the problem is when I put it in gear I get a clunk and when I drive step on the pedal get a small clunk and when I take off my foot off the pedal get a clunk 'It supost to have a new moter and trans{I know everything you buy has a new or just rebuilt moter or trans} what do you guys think is it trans going bad bad u-joints or ???? thanks

Sounds like u-joints to me. Stop the truck, put it in reverse, back up a few feet, stop, then put it in drive and tap the gas. If you hear the bang, then it's more than likely your u-joints.

it bangs evry time you put it gear or change from reverse to drive or visa versa

well its my experience that it is your U-joint. most likey the one riht near the rear diff as it has the most stress on it with axle-wrap bein what it is and all. definately check that first. they are a lot cheaper than trannys
