Contemplating a purchase of a 1991 Chevy Cheyenne 350 4x4...
130k miles automatic... dealer wants $3900 for it... I'm curious if you hard core enthusiasts would make that purchase?

Re: Value?

if its in good shape, thats a good price. expect to pay about 4500-5000 for a silverado in really good shape. obviously the cheyenne is worth less b/c of the options level. if the body is solid though i would prob get it. my 89 has 165k on the stock motor and doesnt burn a drop of oil and has plenty of power

Re: Value?

Thanks Mike, I appreciate the input... gives me a little more to base my decision off of, boils down to it being a work truck vs. using a company truck, 19 or 25 dollars and hour... As long as its mechanically sound, I'll get it.

Re: Value?

If it runs good it should be a good deal, I've had two differant 350s that I've put over 260,000 miles on each with out ever having to do any internal work on.

Take care of the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves.

Re: Value?

Do you Hi Mileage guys ever consider putting a timing chain in these motors?....they stretch then the power gone due to the fact that the cam runs to remember the 70's smog motors that GM built back then...a lot of times to get them through epa compliance they ran the cams 4 to 10 degrees retarded and they "smoged" ok but had no power....all that you had to do was put a pre 1970 t/chain kit in them and then they ran great
