95-99 3/4 ton

Ladies and Gentlemen-

My 94 Z71 is going to be sold, and I am going to buy a 95-99 3/4 ton 4x4. Are there any build sheet codes for the 4L80E? I was also curious if they put the 14FF in them. I would like a 96 and newer, but I'll settle for a 95 in great condition. Thanks for any info.

PS-Scooby, I am in full agreement that 1/2 ton trucks are good for a daily driver, and that's about it. =)

In 1996 the newer Vortech motors came out.Much smoother,
better mpg& more horseys than the 1995 & prior models.1995 had the new interior but the old motors.

No they did not put 14B FF axles in the 3/4 tons, You 'd have to step up to the 1 ton, To get yourself one of those. I don't know the build code for the 4L80-E, But if it's a 3/4 ton it'll (The 4L80-E) be in there!

Re: 95-99 3/4 ton

You actually could get a FF in the 2500 models. There were just plain 2500 (7400GVW 6-lugs 8600GVW 8-lug models) They have the 14 bolt SF. The 2500HD models had a FF. All Diesel Trucks were HD in the 2500 model so all diesels have the FF. There wasn't every any distinction on the body, but there was on the window sticker. I used to own a 2000GMC K2500 Classic. The 4L80-E is a good tranny, I had 3.73's in my truck. I prefer a manual though, for gear reduction. The 2.48:1 first in the TH400 & 4L80-E just doesn't cut it for me.
