Re: new Avalanche

I stopped by the dealer yesterday and they had a lifted Avalanche. The lift was from Rancho (I'm guessing the same lift they have for Silverado) and it had 34x11.5x16 Mickey Thompsons. The tires seemed a little skinny but it really made the Avalanche look good. It looked much bigger than the pics Shorts posted. Just thought I would post this because everyone seemed to think 31's were the max.

Re: new Avalanche

If you cut the back off a Suburban, you would get the same convertible looks, without the robcop plastic!

Re: new Avalanche

I have to agree with RMS...UGLY...those things are quite rancid IMHO. I'm sure the lift and tires would help though. Please GM, say this isn't the ongoing trend that will soon be on all of the future lines!

Re: new Avalanche

I wonder if it looks like a normal truck if you rip all of the plasic off. Or just buy it w/o the crap.

They all come with the "crap" as you call it. I like them.

Re: new Avalanche

I took a long close look at one at a car show recently, and although it has some innovative features (steps in the bumpers, storage in the bedrails, factory bedliner), they all seemed poorly executed (plastic steps are susceptible to being crushed by shopping carts, plastic storage compartments aren't secure, light plastic bedliner not attached & might blow out). It's obviously a trendy car built to look kinda like a truck, but not really to be used as a truck. Cosmetically, I'd rate it a small notch better than the Aztec. Functionally, I'd say it's a step backward from sport trucks & SUV's. Even if I considered buying GM's, I can't imagine considering buying one of these things.
