Re: new Avalanche

Well, pretty much feel the same as all of you as far as the avalanche. Especiallly the lifted ones, they have the hugely tall wheel well but it's not very wide which means a 6" lift and 31's or 33's. The dealer installed 6" has 31's on it here in town. But those trucks are very popular here with all the contractors. But, I have to say that the Cadilac version of it is nice. It has the new escalade style front grill and most of the plastic is gone, they just paint the bottom a diff. color than the rest. I looked at one and liked it quite a bit. I do like that the bed can hold a full 4x8 sheet of plywood with the tailgate closed, the bedsides act as storage compartments/ice chests, and you can drive with no back on the thing to sort of simulate an older blazer.

Re: new Avalanche

I stick to my original impression of the Uglyvanche... those things are FUGLY and the lifted one is FUGLIER still!!! They might be nice inside, but they're still FUGLY on the outside!!! just my opinion

Re: new Avalanche

Yep, I am never gonna buy one. I am in the process of getting a 97 crew cab long bed 1 ton non dually truck. I don't know about all of you but I like the 88-98 body style much better than the new one. I like square, not round. Anyway, I am going to have to baby this truck cause I know no one is going to come out with a truck with the same type of body as the 88-98. I have been to SEMA and I have seen the future 2003-2005 cars and I don't like it. All plastic, insanely huge front grills, and did I mention gobs of plastic? Anyway, thats just my standpoint. Oh yeah, guy down the street from my just bought an Aztec. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Re: new Avalanche

Am I the only one that likes them????? Personally I have seen quite a few up here and I wouldn't mind a 3/4ton with the 6.0 in it. I do think they went a little over board on the plastic but if you think if it...if you were to take it down the logging road to get to the hunt camp or the tree stand chances are the branches wouldn't make scratch the paint nearly as bad as if it wern't there. I also think its a mean looking truck. The drive train is exactly whats on all the 1/2ton trucks right now so really its only body style that you are all complaining about. But I remember way back in the fall of 1987 when everyone and there brother said.....damn those new Chevy's look ugly!!!!

Re: new Avalanche

Nope, you're not the only one who likes them... I was looking at them after my wife's car was conviently totaled by some idiot who forgot that people pulling out of parking lots do not have the right of way no matter how fast they try and jet across traffic but then we got shafted by the insurance company so... I had to buy her the 4by she's always wanted... don't be mad at me (it's an early Bronco) I'm still GM loyal, got my Blazer and my Willys wagon with Chevy power... Now if I just had the time to work on them...

<font face="Comic Sans MS">I hate plastic on vehicles... I want heavy guage steel (including the dash board), no cheezy plastic foam junk for me... I don't care what they say, plastic won't be as durable as the metal... I think some people should be hanged for the design of the Aztec and plastic mobile (avalanche)...

Re: new Avalanche

There's one of those things parked outside my building right now... Damn is it ugly!

I think the 88-98 body style looks way better than anything that came after it.
