Need Pics - rear sway bar on C/Ks

ok people, i need pics of rear sway bars setups on '88-'98 trucks. i know 1500s didn't come with them, but i'm going to either install a kit from hellwig or do a custom job on my truck. i need pics of the mounting brackets and positions and you now, the basic setup. if i go custom, i'll use 2500/3500 components from a yard out here - mainly the bar.

Shorts- Go check out some 3/4ton Suburbans. Most of them after 1994 or something like that came with them. You might even find all the parts you need off a wrecked one and will save you tons!!!

Re: Need Pics - rear sway bar on C/Ks

I'm 99% sure my Tahoe has a rear swaybar...and it's only a 1500. I definitely recall seeing one when I did the exhaust and the body lift. However, it's dark right now, so I can't take pics. If nobody's responded by tomorrow afternoon, I'll do it for ya. And if I forget, email me, lol.

Blusmbl, the 4 door Tahoes and Yukons were indeed fitted with them.

Shorts, think about fabing up some sway bar disconnects so you won't loose any flex if you ever get it to that point. My rear axle has lots and lots of droop. Thank god, because the front has none.

Re: Need Pics - rear sway bar on C/Ks

cool thankx...

AJM, i was thinking of quick disconnects as well. i don't want that rear limited when it needs to be a little more flexy.....

i'm not sure if tahoes have them. mom's '96 4dr tahoe does not have it. unless i just carelessly looked, i'll check again ...i was thinking of snagging a sway bar and brackets from a wrecked truck. anything under $130(hellwig kit) is savings

Hmmmm..............well, I was under the impression that they all came from the factory with rear sway bars, but I don't have anything to prove that. I do know that at least some of them have them from the factory.

Re: Need Pics - rear sway bar on C/Ks

EDIT: yes, it has a rear swaybar. You have to look pretty closely to find it though, it's somewhat hidden in the stock configuration. The bar runs along the top front of the rear axle, and the end links attatch to the frame. If you still need 'em I'll get pictures tonight.

Re: Need Pics - rear sway bar on C/Ks

EDIT: I hope you're not on a 56k modem...this could take forever.

And...if you need more pics or have questions, feel free to ask.

That's the bracket welded to the axle tubes. It's part of the shock mount.

Same bracket, different angle.

Same bracket (again!), looking up from the ground.

The bracket for the endlink that bolts to the frame. 2 bolts required...not sure if all frames have the holes pre-drilled.

That doesn't show much...but my buddy's Jeep on 35's is in the backround, so I posted it anyway.

Swaybar, looking from the rear of the truck forward.

a pic of my Tahoe in current shape...

and another. I just like showing it off, lol.
