Big dissapointment today......

Man I was lookin under my truck to see how dirty it was....and I finally actually looked at my rear differential. I had always thought I had a 12 or 14 bolt. Its a freakin 10 bolt, it looks wussy.......haha anyway figured i'd cry about that for a while.

Re: Big dissapointment today......

yeah, i felt the same way. i "knew" my truck had to have the somewhat impressive 14sf. looked at the old cover of it and realized i had naught but an average 10bolt. oh well. if thats the biggest disappointment you ever have in your life, you're a hell of a lot better off than i am.

Re: Big dissapointment today......

Don't complain to hard. You, me, and u4ia4 have the 30 spline 10 bolt, which is a good deal stronger than the old 28 spline 10 bolt of the 80's that gave it the bad name. Works fine for 33's, and if you drive responsibly and remember it's a 10 bolt, you can wheel it with 35's. The main weekness is the 30 spline's carrier. u4ia4 has gotten rid of that problem entirely by getting a Detroit Locker...no carrier......problem gone.

The Blazer is mostly stock, runs 33" tall tires, and doesn't have a whole crapload of power or anything. I figure if I someday lift it sky high, start towing a lot of weight, or try to run a whole bunch of power with it, I'll upgrade to the 14SF. Until then, I'll "live" with the cheaper parts and better ground clearance.

Hey Kid, when I get my 1 ton with the D60 and Corporate 14FF, remind me to laugh and point at your little axle.

Re: Big dissapointment today......

Boggin, if you ordered the towing package with the Z71 package in the 1/2 ton pickups, you got the 14SF. It's option code F44. Pretty rare in the half tons. There was also a sort of "heavy half" package that had it.

Re: Big dissapointment today......

andrew - where did you get that information? im just wondering why an option that isnt part of either package would show up in all trucks with both packages. not that it matters, i was just curious. me - i have the 10 bolt which i have no complaints about but in case it ever takes a [censored] on me, i now have a perfectly good (soon to be rebuilt) 12 bolt that will bolt in there.
