Question concering 1ton lift

Hey, I have a 77 K5 and I am going to lift it 4". It has a 12 bolt rear and I will be using a rear shackle flip. My question is can I use that same shackle for a 14 bolt when I switch one in or will I have to get 1 ton shackles ?

Re: Question concering 1ton lift

The size of the axles have nothing to do with the shackle flip. As long as you remount the spring pads and shock mounting tabs on the 14FF to the same place as the 12 bolt had them, you won't have any problems. If it's a 14FF out of a 3/4 ton, you won't even need to do this. Should bolt right on.

If you're thinking the shackles matter because the Off Road Design website says to tell them if your truck is a 1 ton, don't worry. What that is refering to is the fact that the 1 ton has a different frame than the 1/2 and 3/4 tons. Narrower and beefier. So the shackle flips for the 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks won't work on a 1 ton. For you it won't be an issue.
