OT think i found out how to finance flight school

I think i just figured it out. I have wanted to be a pilot since i was a kid and want to go to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Payson, AZ. I get out of the military in just under 3 years and would have my(wife's) car paid off and our other bills paid for as well. If i go guard or reserve they pay 75% of my tution and then i could get a pell grant since my income is only calculated on my base pay and bonuses and doesn't include my housing compensation or rations compensation. Then the GI Bill and student loans could cover the little bit left over. In 4 years i would get out with a BS in Aeronautical Sciences and be liscenced to fly the Boeing 737 Jet(southewest airlines' only aircraft) and possibly the Boeing 727. Just excited about possibly being able to accomplish my life long dream and thought i would share with everyone.

Well, I suddenly like you, for many reasons, and I truthfully wish you the best of luck in whatever you do. Especialy if it's a life long dream.

Makes me think of a quote I made up - "You can stand there all day and wish for a million dollars and I can wish for a sandwich. I think mine will be first"

That has no bearing on the topic at hand, soooooo, good luck!

Desert, good luck and have fun man. I thought EmbryRiddle was in Prescott?? My brother-in-law just graduated from there last year. He said it is very, very expensive but definetely well worth it. He said those guys definetely party there, every spring break was spent in lake Havasu(sp?)Arizona. He said it was a blast. Hey at least you'll get to fly them, unlike me, I got my A&P and get to work on them, but not anymore though, I decided to go back to school and get a batchelors degree. Good Luck!

Thanks. I wooon't be able to party much. My wife wouldn't agree with my idea of a good time. Time for me to get serious about my future anyway. The army is ok, but i could do a lot better

When you get out try looking at the AFRES or ANG unit near you. They will pay up to $650 a month for school. Now that is over and above the GI Bill money you should already be getting. I have an Ex-Marine in my squadron who with both his money from active duty and reserve gets about $1200 a month for school.
