Twin Stick NP205

I saw the article in Petersen's about converting an NP 205 to "twin stick", and was thinking about going through the procedure. How difficult was it?? What should I watch out for?? Any other comments??

It really doesn't look to be that hard. I think most of the problems will be with the shifter and the linkages but that shouldn't be much of a problem either. I think if I were to do it I would go and get another shifter off a 205 and then get a 6" bolt and fab a little section that comes up off the T-case to wedge the one shifter that is there now and then you would put the other shift on the outside of that piece you fabbed up and bolt it together like it orinally was with the single shifter but now you have two. Not sure if any of that makes sense but I could make you a sketch if you want.

As for the 2stick idea...I think its awsome. Off-road you can cut your turning radius in half by making the front wheels turn and putting the rear in neutral and then setting the P-Brake in the rear there for being able to walk right around with out moving the A$$ end. And then on the street you can do an awsome show to your buddys buy putting the front axle in High and putting the rear in neutral and then setting the P-brake in the rear. By doing this you could smoke the front tires right off the truck if you really wanted too[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif[/img]

I don't remember where I got the pic from, but I think this is in a Landcruiser. If it looks odd, its becasue the 205 has been indexed - say 20-30 degrees.
