Gears

Hi everyone, i just bought a 1985 K10 to drive as a everyday truck, but i am also gonna bring it wheelin once or twice a week. I will be going mostly in mud but also, i will be going over a bit of rocks. No serious rock crawling though. The truck right now has 3.08 Gears. Do you think those will be okay? How much would it cost to get 3.73 gears. Or should i even go lower?

Re: Gears

You will find that the general concensus here is that if you go through the effort of changing your gears it's not worth it unless you go up a couple of sizes. You never mentioned what size tires you plan to run either. Say for instance.... You run 35"s. If you have a manual tranny you'd go with 4.10s and with an automatic tranny with OverDrive you'd go with 4.56s(at least I would,,, Actually I do). Fill out your profile with as many details as possible and you'll get better answers.
