Annoying Noises

I noticed as I was driving this morning, that a squeaking noise was coming from under the hood. Sounded like the belt so i put some soap on it, but it still squeaks. When my A/C is on no noise is made. Does anyone have any tips on fixing the noise?

Re: Annoying Noises

check the tension on the belt. also check all your underhood brackets and pulleys... make sure they're snug.

Re: Annoying Noises

Definitely check the tensioner as it was a poor design on the '97s. I had the same problem with my '97 at about 20k miles, took it in under warranty, and they replaced the tensioner with the new designed one....told me the original was about to grenade, which would have sucked up in the mountains!
