RCD 2WD lift kit springs too rigid?

Hi All,

I just put a RCD lift kit (6" front, 4" back) on my extended cab 2001 2WD GMC Sierra. Added 33" tires as well. The problem is that on the highway the ride is now way too stiff. I am getting rattled clean out of my skin. The roads here in San Diego are pretty much washboard so the ride is nearly unbearable. I am staying away from the BF Goodrich Velvet ride shackle because I have been told by many people it doesnt help. The only thing I can think of is to remove one of the leafs from the rear and maybe try and find a softer spring for the front. That or another lift kit. Ive heard the problem may be due to the longer wheelbase. Anyone run into a similar problem and know of a cure?

Any help is VERY appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

ORD makes a 4" shackle flip kit...i know they fit the '88-'98 trucks, but just for giggles, you might want to see if they've got a set that'll fit your truck. i don't know how different the '99 up truck shackles are than the pre'98 trucks.

you can install the stock springs and use the 4" shackle to get the factory ride back...or check with some other lift companies for some softride springs.

if all else fails, fab up some shackle flip brackets and install the stock springs.

I did a Fabtech 6" on my 95 2WD and it's softer than stock. I love the ride of my truck. Anyway, do you know the spring rates of the springs you got? You may have gotten ones for a truck with a bigger engine or extended cab if yours isn't.
