Windshield noise

Took my '99 Z71 into the dealership today because of the windshield making a funny noise. I bought the truck about three weeks ago and it has been doing it all along but just now had a chance to get it in there. Come to find out it is the way the bug deflector deflects the air into the windshield. (It is coming off) They also said this causes a lot of complaints with people complaining about there mirrors vibrating really bad. Anyway just thought I would throw that out for someone that may run in to this down the road.

Re: Windshield noise

The noise you are hearing IS NOT caused by your deflector it is caused by the windshield revel moldings tapping the glass. I used to work for a dealer and i have fixed sevral by glueing the edge of the molding down to the glass, and the mirror problem is caused by faulty mirrors that were installed on some of thease trucks. They should be replaced under warrenty

Re: Windshield noise

My mirrors shake at highway speeds. I'm pretty sure it is because of the turbulence created by the deflector. I immediately noticed the mirror thing after installing the deflector. Never had any windshield noise problems though

I have had to re-tighten some bolts on the driver's side mirror because it would fold in at about 60mph, but I only did it once and that was about 2 years ago.

Re: Windshield noise

My 99 (new style) had the windshield problem. The dealership I go to here in Houston fixed it. They said it was the moldings. I also have a deflector and also have the shades on the door windows, which is what I thought was causing the noise. No problems and none with the mirrors.
