Replacement Cats

Does anyone know if the Catco direct fit replacement cat's are smog legal in Cali? I am looking at this one for my 95: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...153&part=18528 Also, I am not particularly thrilled about the idea of getting a replacement cat with the stock y-pipe. I would rather get the Edelbrock TES headers and run directly into the cat. But, what size output is on the TES headers? Is it 2.5? Or 3? So, if I find out the size and they make a universal fit cat, will that be smog legal? I'm do for a smog here in Sept.

Re: Replacement Cats

sorry willy, I just got around to riggin' my keyboard. I had none of the following keys for 2 weeks: 345ERTYDFGCVBN so I had to cut and paste EVERY letter (almost).

I think you need to contact Catco and get the CARB # for the cats - You can check here for Catco's listings too(I couldn't find them): http://www.arb.ca.gov/db/search/search.htm.

Re: Replacement Cats

willys, I don't know much about the catco cats, but about a year ago I had my factory cat replaced with a CarSounds 3" high flow cat by an exhaust place down here in San Diego. So I know CarSound's stuff is Cali-legit. Ask around at exhaust places. They are just regular replacement cats, no Y pipes or special mountings. You can get them and see them at Truck Performance.

Re: Replacement Cats

Oh yeah, the frame. I am in the process of building a jig out of wood so I can set the whole thing in there and weld it up. I have the top half done and half of the bottom half. I ran out of metal after boogering up my first piece. I am waiting for that to come in. Should be here monday. Main thing is I have been figuring out all the angles for my jig so everything sits perfect.
