which lift and what else do i need?

i am new to chevys and will be getting a 89K5 blazer soon. i would like to lift it 6" to run 35's. I know i can do this with only 4" of lift but i plan to run bigger once i have enough money to lower my gears. I have looked around and like Genuine Suspension (b/c it is cheap and i am in high school) and Rough Country. i understand i will need a steering arm and draglink ( i do not know what these are, if someone inform it would be real helpful) but will i need anything else? Also how much will the steering arm and draglink cost? One more question does anyone know what type of axles i have? sorry for all the questions. any help is greatly appreciated

Does it have that new fangled IFS suspension system or the oldie but goodie solid axle? I dont keep up with the new fancy models.

Hey Jax... I was just looking at your home page. Your band is playing some real good material. What instrument do you play? I'm a guitar player and a drummer, been playing fer 20 years and I like to crank it up and rock hard. Too bad you're on the other side of the country, I'd like to hear your band.

Re: which lift and what else do i need?

When you run 6" and 35's you'll need one of them steering box brackets. The frame cracks at the steering box and it's best to put this on as a preventitive measure. They're usually in the same ad as the lift kits in the magazines. Someone else can fill you in more if you need. I hope you'll love your Chevy, and have a good time with it man.

GMCJim,
I play the stereo like nobody.

These are just some friends of mine that have a kick a$$ rock band. They love to play the newer stuff. My buddy Troy put the web page together, and he doesn't really know all the names of the songs, just how to play them I could go on but if you ever find yourself in Cincinnati, look me up and we'll try to go see them.

Note to all Lynrd Skynrd Fans: Please don't yell at me for the comment about them. Really, it's just an inside joke for the band. (Although they still won't play it)

Re: which lift and what else do i need?

well i would suggest a lift from superlift. i have one on my truck and it rides really nice. for steering mods i just ordered the steering arm from superlift too. you are also going to need new brake lines and to drop the transfer case or get longer drive shafts with the six in. kit. the sway bar will need to be lowered also, and superlift also makes a braket for that. i think the steering arm was about $60 and the drop brakets were $45. i ordered all off the stuff from Desert Rat, they were really nice and helped out a whole bunch. I put 36's on my truck and they do rub a bit so i think the 35's will fit good. they axles you have are both GM 10 bolts. If you have any other questions on your rig's specs just go to www.coloradok5.com they have a whole specs sheet on any blazer ever made. i just graduated this year and i was on a tight budget too so dont worry you can do it. ohh yeah one more thing if you can get the rear springs too cause they make a diif in ride, i have rear springs and not blocks and its great. hope this helps you out.
