Junk yard diff?

The rear diff on my 88 Chevy K1500 no longer locks and was wondering if a diff from a k2500 would fit on my axle? Or would i have to replace the whole axle for the k2500's? Or would a K2500's axle fit on my k1500? Thanks.

Re: Junk yard diff?

You'll probably have to swap in the axle housing from the K2500. As far as I know, the internals are not 'compatible'.
