Uncomfortable Front Seats

I guess the seat padding has broken down in my 89 Ext Cab. The material is OK but it feels like theres no padding left. Does anyone know if they can be repadded or if there are after market seats available? Will later model seats fit in the '89?

Re: Uncomfortable Front Seats

ya the seates can be reapolterd and padded, but since all the seats up to 98 will fin in your 89 then that would be the way to go, Ive seen the factory buckets with the center console going for around 200 hear, but havent come across the right color yet.
I priced how much it would be to apolter the buckets to match my truck and its in the 200 dollar range.
you can find them on ebay all the time but the cheapest are usually 4-500 but there brand new take outs.

Re: Uncomfortable Front Seats

Or you could go with one of these companies and get a race seat thats waaayyyyyyy more comfortable, especialy on those long trips.. Most are in the $200+ each range depending on options.. The only thing you do lose is the recline..

Re: Uncomfortable Front Seats

Thanks for the info, I'm going to try to find a newer or aftermarket bench or bucket. It has the 60/40 now and I just use it for hunting. The 300 mile trip to the deer lease and back was unbearable. Theres a steel bar right at the tailbone.

Re: Uncomfortable Front Seats

I bought mine off ebay for $152.50, 60/40 bench with full power. Had to run wires and drill four holes but I know 98 seats will fit in the 89 truck.

Re: Uncomfortable Front Seats

I went the cheaper route for my '90. I got a foam bed (egg crate) matress cover and a truck seat cover from Wal*Mart. Then with a razor blade I shaped the foam to look 1/2 way natural in the seat. Then I put on the seat cover. It was cheap and efficitve, although new seats would have been nicer.

Re: Uncomfortable Front Seats

I called several yards around Austin TX and none had seats. I was told that if they did it would sell for $300+. I found some late model GM takeouts at truckandrv.com from $450 to $700. This place has just about every style made and it's about as cheap as I've found for like new.
