Old style Power steering pulley removal...

How am i supposed to get this pulley off my p/s pump? Its got a nut on the end. Ive got a puller for the newer style pulleys, but this looks different.

Thanks,
Ryan

Re: Old style Power steering pulley removal...

my friend and i tried to get one off...couldn't do it. the pulley was bent but the pump was good... we tried beating on it, heating it up, using a puller...nothing would get it off, so he had to get another pump and pulley...

Goto autozone and rent a power steering pulley puller. Dont beat, pry or bang on it. Your new pump wont have a pulley either. Good luck.

Take the nut off.Lube the shaft and tap gently with a hammer to work in the lube and it should slide right off.It has a keyway in it,so you may have to transfer it to the new pump.
