Anyone else have annoying squealing brakes?

Hey everyone. I had brake work done recently at Goodyear and I had them throw new pads on while it was there. Well ever since then my brakes squeal extremely loud. I mean loud enough to make me not want to drive my truck. When I went back to complain the guy told me that the new non-asbestos pads will do that and thers nothing I can do about it. they cleaned them up and said my large tires make it worse. any of you big tire guys have this problem or is that guy full of sh!t?

Re: Anyone else have annoying squealing brakes?

I vote for FOS.
I used to replace front brake pads annually . Last time I picked up a set of "Severe Duty" pads from the Pep Guys. They are a little thicker and seem to be holding up well. I don't have any specifics on them, I can't even remember the brand. I do know that they were about double the price of regular pads, but I was sooooo tired of replacing them all the time I figured I'd give it a shot.

Re: Anyone else have annoying squealing brakes?

im betting on metalic, life time warenty crap. i hate those, i got them on right now and they piss the crap out of me.
if they are as bad as you say, you might just hit a worst spot on the pads, mine just squick whenever i touch the brake pedal

Will work for mods

Current mods--> 31x10.5x15 ProComp MT, 15x8 AR767 rims, K&N, MSD Ignition Coil.

Boy I love my autozone 26 dollar a pair brake pads. Never make a sound, stop like there supposed to, and have around 18K on them right now.

Re: Anyone else have annoying squealing brakes?

yep, i run autozone pads too and they're silent. i'll tell you what though. when my wheel bearings start to wear out and get a little slack in them, my brakes sound like city bus brakes...loud as sh!t. you might make sure that you don't have any play in them before assuming it's the pads' fault. i also put this brake gunk on the back of the pads that keep them from rattling, and it works well. brakes are silent man, never even thought about it but it's nice! good luck.

JEEP, it's what's for dinner.

Muddybronco is right. What your hearing is the pad vibrating in the caliper. Take off the caliper and grease the back of the pad where it sits against the caliper. You can buy special grease just for this at any parts store.

Re: Anyone else have annoying squealing brakes?

yeah, do the brakes yourself, its a pretty easy
job esp if you have air tools.

Here is a good deer for you:
