Dome Lights Flashing While Driving

While I was driving into work today I noticed that the dome lights in my 1999 Suburban began to flash. There was no pattern to their flashing. It was as if I had a door that was not shut all the way and it was causing the lights to flash. When I got to work I checked all of the doors and they were all shut. Has anyone else ever had this problem? I hope that it is nothing serious.

Thanks, Ryan

My 1985 3/4 ton does this sometimes......I just open up the door and slam it shut as hard as I can and often times it shuts out the light.

Re: Dome Lights Flashing While Driving

i had that exact problem and it was the switch that gets shut when you close your door. look on the sides of the dash (where the door contacts it) and you will see it sticking out. i think its $3 and easy to change

Re: Dome Lights Flashing While Driving

I have just the opposite problem. Open door at night, no dome light. Jiggle the switch a few times, and just like magic the lights come on.

I never bothered to fix it because I don't want the light to come on every time I open the door.

Re: Dome Lights Flashing While Driving

mine did that once, driver side switch is mounted on a very thin metal "sheet" (at least mine is), for some reason the whole thing got pushed in and the switch would think the door was open. i just jammed my had up there and bent the metal piece back out.

Will work for mods

Current mods--> 31x10.5x15 ProComp MT, 15x8 AR767 rims, K&N, MSD Ignition Coil.
