Re: HELP

try taking out the thermostat and see if it still overheats. if so, something with the waterpump is screwed up. are you sure you got the right one? reason i ask that is someone was posting about thermostats a few weeks ago and someone had an experience where they put the wrong pump in and it was reverse rotation of the other pump, this not allowing the thermostat to open. if removing the thermo fixes it, then that either means it was bad or the reverse rotation pump thing.

EDIT -- oh yea, ive also heard that when you drain your coolant (actually when you replace a thermostat), you should drill a small hole in the thermostat b/c sometimes steam will buildup under it and not allow it to open. might wanna try that first, its probably the problem

Re: HELP

Just replace the thermostat. They're cheap anyways. Also, your temp sensor might be out. I have an older motor ('79) and it's on the side of the block. Not sure where yours is. It will be on the head prolly with a wire coming out of it. You also want to be sure you don't have air in your cooling system. Let it run with the cap off the radiator long enough for the thermostat to open.

Re: HELP

First of all. Did you have your thermostat out?
Second of all. Check your belt routing. You might have gotten it on the wrong side of the pump which I think would mess up the rotation of the pump.
If your thermostat was working properly before the water pump, then double check to make sure you got the right pump.
