Should I buy 91 s10 blazer w/locked up engine $850

91 blazer 4x4 auto with a lot of options and is in good shape in and out except for the engine. The owners just replaced the entire front 4 wheel drive system including shafts/cv etc before it locked up. Here is what they told me "During this past cold winter, the car was being warmed up. Must have been low on oil/leak we do not know, but the engine stopped and never turned over again." I can get it for around $850 do you think it is worth the time and money. I am not a car whiz, but I have plenty of people to work with me that are. Any ideas please? Thanks Nick

I wonder, what would a nice running 91 S10 Blazer of equal interior / exterior and drivetrain sell for. I wonder, would it be less money to fix the 91 S10 Blazer or find a Blazer ready to drive. My opinion, it's usually worth fixing a vehicle that has a blown engine, with ONE major exception, as long as you can do all the work yourself. If you need friends, tools to get the 91 S10 Blazer going, pass on the deal.

Not sure if you're smogged where you live, but you could even check into stuffing a 350 into it. They're dead cheap at junkyards (I got one in my Fullsize jimmy for $550 Canadian, installed). Advance Adapters probably has something for you.

$850 for a 91 Anything seems like a pretty good deal if you can get it running.

You shouldn't even need an adaptor. S10's have a 700R4 just like fullsizes. I know you can put a 350 in one, and even with the 4.3 they are pretty fast. I'd go for it.
