sloppy steering in a 72 blazer

Can anyone help me ? I just bought a 72 blazer custom and the steering is messed up . It's only a problem when I'm tryng to go straight. It is very loose ans any bump in the road will change my direction. any ideas on what the prob might be?

I don't worry cause bones heal, pain goes away, and chicks dig scars

Re: sloppy steering in a 72 blazer

It could be any one of your front end / steering parts. Best bet is to get under the truck and check everything.(ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, idler arm, steering box, wheel bearings....)

Also check that joint (rag joint?) that connects the steering shaft to the box. I have seen one that broke in half...the steering was pretty bad.
