Adverse affects going from 245/16 to 285 /16

Ok Im going to put some 285/16 mastercraft MT's on my truck.
Unfortunatly I have sorry vortec 305 under the hood. What kind of speedo, power, and gas mileage problems can I expect?
I plan on towing a 5000lbs camper around alot.
This is my secound 305 and never had problem yet. How close in HP is the 96 vortec 305 and the pre 95 350 with TBI.
Would reprogramming my OBDII help?
Thanks
BC

Hey man nothing to be ashamed of .I also have the Vortech 305 with 120000 and it does fine.I went from 245's to 34" Mickey's to 285's then 33's, no big deal. The 305 dont have the power of a 350 but if you add a K&N and a good exhaust and maybe reprogram for shift points and such you'll be OK.Also upgrade your ignition system and youll be a happy camper.i dont pull 5000 pounds but ive climbed steep mountains of WEst Virginia with two 500 pound atv's in the back and still passed other traffic.

Yea dont apologize for the 305. I have a 4.3 HO v6 in my fullsize. I went from a 235X75r6 to a 285X85R16 and the biggest problem is that the engine doesnt take off like it used to. As for mileage? I really havent noticed any big decline.

How does it feel to be beaten by a sewing machine?
