Is there a diff between a 350 Olds and a 400 GM diesel water pump?

Re: Diesel water pump?

400 GM Diesel? You're either talking about a 6.2L (379cubes) or a 6.5TD which is about 396cubes. Either way, yes, the water pump is different, the two engines are very different. Get either a GM one or one from Peninsular Diesel which is upgraded.

Re: Diesel water pump?

the reason I asked is we have a vehicle with a 5.7l Oldsmobile diesel. It says GM on the intake manifold. The water pump is going south. What will match from what motor?

Re: Diesel water pump?

As far as I know there are no interchangeable parts between the 5.7L Olds Diesel and the GM 6.2L or 6.5TD. Sorry, but I think you'll have to get a new pump specifically for the 350 Olds. The GM 6.2L series was a complete ground up design and not based on any other engine, the Olds is a converted gas motor. As for the intake manifold, that was common to several V8 engines under the GM umbrella, including Olds. Hope this helps.
