WANTED: 2-3\" front springs for 73-91 truck

Okay guys, I'm sick of this IFS bulls#*t. I took it in to get aligned the other day. Guess what? Most of the steering gear is shot. I had it all replaced about a year ago, WITH MOOG PARTS! Guy said it had to do with the fact that the steering geometry was all goofy from the lift. AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I'm not about to go throw that much money at an axle I'm planning on getting rid of. So I'm thinking, what if I just got some 2-3" springs, and did the front axle swap right away. That way, I could keep the rear lift and my tires that I have now. Later, when I could afford some 35's and the 6"'s worth of lift, it will be half done.
So, does anyone have some 2-3" front springs for a 73-91 truck? I'll take them off your hands for any reasonable deal. Thanks.

You could also try buying just the front springs from 4Wheel Parts Wholesalers(left coast) or National Tire&Wheel(right coast)

Skyjacker

Superlift
73-91 Blazer, 1/2 ton Pickup 01-232-6
SUPERIDE FRONT SPRINGS 2-2.5 Part#01-232-6

Hope this helps

someone did a post recently about BDS Springs for like $91 each...they were 4", but that should give a lowball price range most 2" kits run the same as 4"...I hope ya just bit the bullet and drove the thing home as is...I admire a gutsy call like that when it's up on the lift...I love my straight axle 89 more every time I read about IFS (Incredibly Funky Steering)...That's not meant to belittle your situation...I'd come lend ya a hand if you were near my town...JD

No offense taken. I told him thanks, and drove it down to a guy I know who owns a garage. He said everything was like the alignment guy said, and that it was safe to drive. So then I started thinking. I was thinking of just selling the d*&n thing and buying a 89-91 Blazer, but then, I love my truck to much. I've had to much........errr.....fun.....in it. Anyways, I am trying to conserve money, because the eventual intent is 35's and 6" of lift. I may just buy the springs new though. Don't know yet. Hard part is the brackets right now. ORU is the only one who makes them, and they want like 700 bucks. NO THANKS!!!

Andrew-

Take a peek at Hill 4WD in San Luis Obispo. They have a Straight axle kit I believe. Did you go to the off-road expo in Pomona? They had a couple guys there with straight axles under formerly IFS trucks. Might also want to try Donahoe in Anaheim, or Camburg in Santee if all you need are the brackets.

Andrew,

I agree with you on the ORU kit for the axle swap. I don't know where you may decide to get the axle swapped in, but I do remember that the ORU swap usually netted the vehicle with about 2-3" of lift with standard springs. I think it had something to do with the placement of the spring hangers and shackles. You may want to look into because you may not need lifted springs yet. You would have a greater supply of springs from any 73-91 truck (junkyards, etc.). Good luck!

Alex
