Front Leaf Spring Brackets

Since ORU is pretty overpriced for their straight axle conversion "kit", Im currently considering making it up myself. Is it allo just pretty much a set of brackets that hold front leaf springs on? Also, I would have to get a Ford axle, unless I swapped out my NP-241, which I probably wont do, but would I be able to use the front driveshaft that is on my truck now, also what about steering? Would I have to take some steering parts out of a truck that came with a straight axle? Also brake lines? Did a Dana 44 ever come with 8 lugs? My profile says I hope for a Dana 60, but just to expensive right now, just gotta start small. Thinking starting with FF 14-Bolt and Dana 44 front, if they come with 8 lugs? Thanks again for yet another straight axle conversion post!

Re: Front Leaf Spring Brackets

The Dana44 on 3/4 ton trucks is 8-lug. (73-80ish)
The 10bolt on 3/4 ton trucks is 8-lug. (81-87)
Eith one will work fine with tires up to 36" (Maybe 38, but that's pushing it.)
