For those that remember I chunked a rod in my 86 3/4T sub last may. Well we dropped the new Vortec motor in this weekend and will finish the project on Saturday. Thanks to all who helped solve some problems.
This note is actually to talk about the old motor. Once it was out of the truck we could actualy see the rod hanging out of the oil pan!!! Not only that, there were three other punctures in the pan!!! I will send pictures later.
The saddest part??? The motor was a rare beast. A 4-bolt 1-piece rear seal. Too bad, it would have made a nice race block for the camaro. But it destroed the block and everything inside. Looks like a grenade went off!!!
Pics to follow with the article on the Vortec swap.

I didn't think that 4-bolt 1 piece rear seals were that much of an odd-lot. GM started using the 1 piece seal back in 86 and used them in all future 350's to the best of my knowledge (until they came out with the new tiny V-8's).
