Welding shock mount

My rear shock mount recently broke and i got the new part. The rivets that held the old one on are still in the fram and I cant get to them without taking off the body. I'm thinking of getting it welded on but I dont know if it will be strong enough. Does anyone know? Its the kind on the driver side in the back that sits on top of the frame.

Re: Welding shock mount

Had to have the front shock bracket welded back on my '89 Jimmy. Never any problems. Cost was $10 at my local garage...

Re: Welding shock mount

My rear shock mount broke so I just welded the damned upper shock bolt to what was left of the original shock mount.

"Dude, if you turn down the next dirt road we can save 15 minutes." What my best friend said just before the EARTH swallowed my truck. WHOLE.

Re: Welding shock mount

Well, I dont have a welder and it took forever to find someone who would do it because its so close to the gas tank but I found a guy who did it for $25. He is also doing my exhaust soon and said he usually charges $50 for the shock mounts but since I was getting the exhaust done with him and I already had the new bracket he'd charge less.
