14 bolt sf

i was wondering if anyone has or knows where i can get a 14 bolt sf 6lug. i have called all the junk yards around here and most of them have never heard of it but the ones that have say that they dont have any. so i was wondering if anyone from the NH area could check ther local junk yards and let me know i am willing to travel with in reason.

Re: 14 bolt sf

Try calling them back and seeing if they have a rear axle for a 3/4 ton 2wd GM or Chevy Fullsize van. Thats the axle you need and they are much more common from those vans than from the trucks. Suprisingly the more and more I look at the axles of 1/2 4x4's the more and more I see that have the 14bolt SM.

Good luck...Ryan

Re: 14 bolt sf

mudd rat, From my many experiences with Boneyards you are much better going in person, I have NEVER gotten correct info over the phone, And if they don't know what a 6lug/14bolt/SF is, that's all the better for you pricewise! best thing you could do is put on some nasty ol work clothes and your tool box and go huntin in there! even if you don't find the rear axle you will find something (or at least I usually do)

Re: 14 bolt sf

The ones from the vans all came with 6-lugs and thats the one you want if your looking to match the bolt patern on your rims. Not sure what prices are like down there but I paid 1800 CDN for a remanufactured one with all new parts including brakes and axle shafts and it came with an Auburn Posi.

Good luck.....Ryan

Re: 14 bolt sf

Just for your info: Don't buy one from Boyce equipment!!!
I just swapped on into my '95 K1500. What a joke. First off it cost a fortune. Second, the brakes were put together completely wrong. Third, the backing plate is bent. Fourth, there is a ton of slop in it. And Finally, After paying extra... THEY PUT THE WRONG GEARS IN IT. Search your local junk yards. You'll find them.

On a side note, what part of N.H. are you from?? My Family owns an Inn and restaurant in the lakes region, so I go to vacation a few times a year. Would love to move there at some point. Getting very sick of Los Angeles.

Re: 14 bolt sf

The name of the place is The Inn on Newfound Lake. Absolutely beautiful up there. A guy that I know there said you can't lift your truck and pass inspection, is this true?
