Will these gears work???

Some guy has 4.56 gears out of the back of his 10 bolt 8.5in. diameter and he is willing to sell them to me for my front axle. They will work right??? Also my trucks an 84 3/4 4x4 it is the 8.5 ring gear in the front right?

If they are gears for a 8.5" 10 bolt, and you want to put them in your 10bolt front axle, I'm going to say no. I'd call WCD or Randy's, or a local shop, and ask them. I was under the impression that front axle gears were cut diffrently than rear axle.

Re: Will these gears work???

I'm pretty sure they will fit. When I busted my ex-10bolt rear gears, we used front 10 bolt gears from a salvage yard to replace them. The only time you can't is if you have a reverse cut front which GM never did. Newer Fords did the reverse cut housing and gears their Dana 60's.

Same gears. Although as you probably know, 4.56- 4.88 and up the pinion starts getting a little weak, especially in a 10 bolt. You gettin the carrier with it, or the whole axle, or just the R&P? And why is it being sold? Be careful on used, it might not be the bargain you think.

A car 10 B? And you won't see the gears till you get them? Not a real good idea, unless they're free .
