Trailer wiring

Congradulate me. I just traded in my last new ford on a 2000classic K3500. I found the trailer wiring harness very easily. It appears to have all the wires that I need right there at the back bumper including a blue wire that comes from an electric brake controller to the trailer. I cannot find the blue wire under the dash where it is supposed to hook to a brake controller. I have wired them in the hard way with my own connections before but I would rather use the factory harness. The Fords have a little grey plug by the steering column under the dash with all the wires right there. does my new Chevy have one? If so where is it? The dealership knows nothing, the Uhaul company does all the trucks they wire the old fashioned way.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Trailer wiring

I believe that the wire you are looking for is under the hood. You will have to find it and run it through the firewall. The wire is located on the drivers side frame rail, way back towards the firewall. You might need a stool to reach it(just make sure you take off your belt). What you are looking for is a blue and orange wire. It is bundled up in some rubber/plastic goo. It is right on the framerail. If you can't find it, maybe I can post a pic, but it could be a few days because I would have to barrow a scanner. Good luck and post again if you have any more questions.
