Re: Anyway ever go to Truck Pulls?
Our local fair has a pretty big pull each year & they bring in two entirely different sanctioning bodies to pull during the same night (and at the same time, a parallel track runs garden tractors & mini-rods). One of the groups has a street class & the other doesn't. Both have a class sort of like this "Super Stock" you mention, but one allows pullin' tires, the other just allows D.O.T.'s. BTW, Boggers aren't a "bar" type lug. I'm guessing the tire max on the class that requires D.O.T.'s is 33's, because that's all I see. Most guys run BFG MT's, but I would think a directional tread like the Yokohama might be better. Who knows. In the "street" class, the guy who kills everyone has an IFS longbed, X-cab with a 454 & runs GM issue 245/75R16's. He's basically untouchable since he's putting out more power than most, longer wheelbase, & wheelhop is non-existent on that truck. In the hotter classes, there's one guy who pulls with both sanctioning bodies with a small-block. He has headers that wind all through the engine compartment & both exit on the driver's side through the hood straight up. It really sounds weird, like an inline 6 on steroids or something. He's pretty impressive.
I also like pulls, but found I could be competitive in mud racing for a much smaller investment (for starters, I didn't have to buy a better tow vehicle like I would if I pulled a 6,200 lbs truck). And there's actually a lot more mud events than pulling events in my area. But, I never miss the local pull when it comes to the fair.
