Re: SM465 to NP203?

GM did put a 4-speed in front of a 203, but not many. In '74 in some 3/4tons. That's all I've ever heard of. Would like to find one myself. Off-Road Design has a nice "Doubler" to put the front half of a 203 between the tranny and a 205. This would give you high and low range before you even get into your transfer!! But, sine I'm running a 465, I need a 203 from a 4-speed. Hope this helps.

Re: SM465 to NP203?

Any ideas on when they'll make a doubler that uses 2 NP205's? I'd like to use the Doubler myself, but finding the right setup to start with is the problem.

Re: SM465 to NP203?

The gearbox is separable on the NP203 that is why it works so easily on the Doubler unit from Off Road Design. You could look for a 4spd NP203 to bolt up to your 465. The 4spd version of the NP203 is shorter than the NP205 4spd. The NP203/4spd is a direct bolt similar to the automatic adapter and does not require a coupler like the NP205.

Hope this helps
