This probably affects more F*rds than Chevys but I saw mention of a news article on another board that stated NHTSA had begun a defects investigation of Firestone ATX, ATX II, and Wilderness tires following several fatal accidents. I couldn't located the article cited from USA Today on-line, but NHTSA's page did note an investigation had been opened into reports of tread separation involving these tires. If anyone is riding on these they should inquire further. Some of us are old enough to remember the infamous Firestone 500 fiasco. This sounds pretty similar involving catastrophic failure of new tires without prior warning.
