My truck's a '97 K1500 5.7L, auto with 10 bolt open rear. It's got ~40k on it so I want to change my gear lube. Any pros or cons fort using semi-synthetic lube? How about full synthetic? Also, does anyone have a rough guestimate as to the capacity of the front and rear diffs?
um...i just did this about a month or two ago and i didnt use synthetic so i dont know about that...there was a reason why - i think maybe it said use regular in the manual?? cant remember. but anyways - both the front and rear difs hold 2.5 quarts each

If you live where it gets cold you'll probably want fully synthetic at least during the winter months since it flows much better than dino goo in the cold... But molecule size and all that stuff is smaller on synthetics so it might escape from your seals easier...
