Which gear lube?

My truck's a '97 K1500 5.7L, auto with 10 bolt open rear. It's got ~40k on it so I want to change my gear lube. Any pros or cons fort using semi-synthetic lube? How about full synthetic? Also, does anyone have a rough guestimate as to the capacity of the front and rear diffs?

Thanks in advance! Matt

Re: Which gear lube?

If you live where it gets cold you'll probably want fully synthetic at least during the winter months since it flows much better than dino goo in the cold... But molecule size and all that stuff is smaller on synthetics so it might escape from your seals easier...
