heat shield

is there a way to install the heat shield next to the exhaust manifold (the one that protects the spark plug boots from melting) i see the nut between the block and ex-manifold that holds the shield. can that nut be removed without removing the ex-manifold.? both my shields are gone on the pass side and the boots are getting soft on the two inner cylinder.

Re: heat shield

You didn"t say what you are driving, but.... I have a 90 Blazer and the heat shields came with it. Try a junk yard or you can make some out of sheet metal. You just need something to "shield" the heat from the manifold from getting to the wires and boots. My two cents!!!!
