1997 Tahoe won\'t stay running

Just found a 97 Tahoe that I'm buying, it won't stay running. It acts like it should have VATS key with a resistor. It turns over, runs for a second, sometime will rev up, and then immediately cuts out. It was hit lightly in the rear. So it could theoretically be the fuel pump as well.

Dealer says that 97 did not have VATS. The key that I have is a copy, not GM. The salver that I'm getting it from took the alarm system out, because it would go off whenever they hooked up the battery.

Any thoughts to get this up and running???

VIN if it helps is 1GNEK13R6ZJ348670

Thanks,

Mike

Re: 1997 Tahoe won\'t stay running

Well...Update.

I decided that it was my fuel pump when the damn thing decided to run for five minutes and then shut off again. It quit priming all together. I dropped the tank and changed the pump, using a pump kit ($168) that came with the sender, strainer and harness by recommendation of another BBS.

It runs fine now. I'd be willing to bet the fuel pump wasn't damaged in the accident, it probably cut out and caused the accident. Either way, I'm well on my way to getting this one on the road now.

I found 2 pretty good sites concerning GM IFS Fullsize trucks and suvs in the meantime.

www.fullsizechevy.com
www.gmfullsize.com

They seemed very up on the technical info for these trucks.
